Sails & Sounds - Maritime Heritage/Sea Shanty & Ulster Scots Fest
Portaferry Sails and Sounds will attract the traditional craft from all over the Irish Sea and even farther afield, along with boats from around the lough Isle of Man and Scotland visit the shores of Strangford Lough for exciting weekend of competitive sail racing we will see Cutters, Schooners, Sloops, Rivers, Glens, Ketches, Yawls, Luggers, Skiffs, Ruffians and more. The festivals has a range of workshops and taster sessions on land and sea SUP, Kayakers & Canoeing, Opportunity Family Boat Trip, 1hr Boat Trip and Cruise Boat Trip (food, drink and music) On land we will hear the voices of fabulous Shanty Singers, live bands, Bangor Yukes, the sound of bagpipes, including give it a go workshop. Exhibitions Sailors and Shipwrecks RNLI 200th Anniversary and the Men who made Portaferry and lots more @ the Portaferry Sails and Sounds Fest. along with lots of on-land activities from Food Foraging, Guided Walking Tours, family fun, open days @ QUB DAERA, Fashion and Make Up Displays, Sea Shanty Singers, crafts, workshops, Viking Exhibitions, Tall Ship and lots lots, more Portaferry Sails and Sounds is a festival for everyone.
