REGISTRATION
* Registration @ Cook Street from 8.45am - both days
* Safety Brief 9.30am @ Cook Street Quay (all participants must
attend on completion you will have time to get ready, on the
water ready for race start.
* Warning announcement - 5 minutes to race start
* 10.am Seniors Race Mass Start
* 10.15am Juniors Race Mass Start
* 11.30am completion of race
* 12 noon food @ Portaferry Sailing Club/Recreation Hub
* 12.30pm Prize Giving
* Max participants 50 in each category
* 12-17yrs (complete 1 lap approx 2miles)
* 18 + yrs
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Participants must provide all their own equipment
2. Participants can paddle any canoe, kayak or sit on top kayak
suitable for the race conditions
3. All craft must have airbags/blocks or built in buoyancy and be
fit for purpose
4. All craft will be inspected by a safety marshal prior to entering
water
5. You Must be dressed suitability for conditions on the day
6. You must wear the correct buoyancy aid or lifejacket with
minimum 50N buoyancy. (anyone not wearing suitable
buoyancy aid or lifejacket will not be allowed to race
7. Participants must not be under the influence of drugs of alcohol
8. Safety Marshal will have the right to refuse entry to any
participant they deemed unfit
9. All 12-17 participants require parental consent
10. Registration fee £5 (12-17 yrs)
11. Registration fee £10 (18+ yrs)
THE COURSE:
*This course is held on the Narrows area of Strangford Lough - an area of fast currents and strong tides and participants must be able to paddle independently in these conditions*
From the start line near Cook Street Quay you'll paddle north and turn around anticlockwise at the Marina Buoy. Catching the current paddle south for approx. 1 mile and turn again anticlockwise at the Barhall Road Buoy. You'll now have to use the eddies to return to cook street quay to the finish line by the slip way (north side of the harbour Quay). The race will remain on the Portaferry side of the Narrows and not enter or cross the main narrows tidal stream
SAFETY COVER
Safety cover will be provided on the water by the local Sailing Club and a safety officer will also be observing from Cook St Quay

> Parking on the street and where signs indicate additional parking
